Presidents Awards 2009
Host of the Year - This year brought us an impressive line-up of host venues. The winning host received a 100% approval rating from our surveys, receiving all 5s for quality of facility, food and beverage. In addition to that impressive acknowledgement and for the 1st time that I can recall, attendees wrote down the names of the banquet servers who delivered unforgettable service. Our 2009 Host of the Year - Four Seasons Hotel / Eric Allen
Special Event Caterer of the Year - During this month’s program, this caterer invited us into their offices, their warehouse and their kitchen – transforming the entire facility. In addition to hosting, this member also participated in the educational program. Receiving high marks for food quality on the surveys and leaving a lasting impression, our 2009 Special Event Caterer of the Year - Steve Hollinger / Barclay Catering.
Educational Program of the Year - The competition was fierce in this category as we had many exceptional educational programs this year. The program selected received the highest survey score of the year – a 95% approval rating for the content and delivery. I am honored to announce, one of the most memorable voices and personalities in the business and a huge advocate of our Association, our 2009 Educational Program of the Year - Neen James
The Event Professional of the Year award goes to a member who is very near and dear to everyone’s heart. He is consistently present and always willing to assist without hesitation. I appreciate his passion, his mature insight and well thought out suggestions to make our chapter better. He is a permanent fixture and I cannot thank him enough, our 2009 Event Professional of the Year - Charlie Peatross
Contributor(s) of the Year
Each month when we plan our monthly meetings, we can not do it alone. It takes the willingness and support of our “business partners” to make a successful meeting become reality. These individuals have shown our chapter a tremendous amount of support this year through their consistent involvement of time, talent and resources. Our 2009 Contributors of the Year are Dave Buckley, Cindy Bene, Dave Campli, Jeff Litman, Danielle Lodge and Brian Toner
The New Face of NACE Member of the Year is someone who joined our association with the right intention – to get involved. She was an exceptional networker from the beginning and was anxious to find the right committee to call home. Over the last few months, she has been a wonderful addition to our Hospitality Committee and this is only the beginning of more to come. Our New Face of NACE Member of the Year is Jennifer Tyler-Washington.
The Sprit of NACE Award recognizes the individuals who capture the essence of what NACE is all about – they are dedicated to our industry and they are dedicated to this association. Their integrity is unmatched. No job is too big or too small and they are always willing to help with a positive approach while inspiring each of us along the way. Our 2009 Spirit of NACE Award winners are Erica Goddard and Richard Portney
The Synergy Award is awarded to a member who represents a team that continuously contributes to our chapter. I once read that “the strength of the team is in each individual member… the strength of each member is in the team” That quote reminded me of team at Feastivities Events - their creativity, their passion and their drive inspires us all. Together, they do great things. Our 2009 Synergy Award goes to Meryl Snow and her team.
The Networker of the Year award is given to a member who attends most every meeting, who easily interacts and engages conversation, who represents themselves professionally, who is approachable and who also contributes their time and their talent whenever they can. Our Networkers of the Year are Gabriel Fredericks and Joe Pulcinella.
The Behind the Scenes Award goes to an individual that I respect a lot. We created a board position over year ago with this person specifically in mind. Over the past year, he has spear headed many technology project ultimately making the board and chapter function more productive. He is always available to assist our board and members with anything technology related, regardless of the time of day of the week, he is fully dedicated. Not to mentioned, a talented musician as well. Our Behind the Scenes Award goes to Dan Cohen.
Extraordinary Achievement Award - I am a firm believer of giving credit where credit is due. I am incredibly excited that we chartered the Widener University Student Chapter during my presidency, what an incredible achievement. This extraordinary achievement took a lot of time and a lot of hard work. Two of our members never gave up. They worked as a team, and with the support of our national office, made an important initiative, a reality. We are honored to welcome all of our new Student Members and that accomplishment would not have been possible without the Extraordinary Achievement of Denise DiMartino, CMP, CPCE and Dr. Joy Dickerson.
Member of the Year Award - When I sat down and reviewed our member list a half-dozen times and reviewed all of my monthly chapter recaps and looked at all of the great photos on our website – I took a lot of time to reflect on this past year. In doing that, I kept on coming back to one member and what this one member has contributed to the chapter in 2009. Doug Quattrini, CPCE has served as your Vice President of Educational Programs over the last year, and has done an exceptional job with keeping our programs current, diverse and beneficial. In addition to his responsibility, Doug has supported the board however needed as we have experienced some unexpected changes throughout the year. Doug is consistent, he is reliable and his contribution to the chapter this past year is invaluable, making him very worthy of the honor – Member of the Year.
