Sweet from the Soil

Eat your vegetables; this is a phrase we grow up with, with more than slight negative connotation. Vegetables are adult, acquired, and … a responsible thing to do.

Sweet From The Soil; inviting vegetables to dessert, turns this notion on its proverbial ear.

A few years ago, a word that was there all along in the grocer’s descriptions in the produce section, but heretofore hidden from my responsible eyes, was the word sweet.

As a foodie devoted to the industry, my imagination ran wild – sugar…in vegetables! Of course vegetables are sweet!

In addition to Christopher speaking, the chef will come out for each course and describe what we’re eating, Richard Grosser will have a portfolio of Gallo Wines on hand for pairing, Tim Mountz of Happy Cat Farm will describe his tomato beer, the Amrani Brothers of Delice et Chocolat will speak to their desserts after the sit down dinner portion. And this is just the beginning!
